“The secret to being happy is accepting where you are in life
and making the most out of everyday!”

syd pic 4 Sydney Michele Galleger was born in Dallas, TX on January 18, 1998. She moved with her family to Eden Prairie, MN in the summer of 2005. She loved life and embraced it to its fullest. She made friends easily and she shared her compassionate and caring heart with everyone she met. She could find the “good” in anyone she met. You never saw her without a smile on her face or laughter in her voice. Sydney loved an adventure and was never fearful to try something new. She loved dancing, playing soccer, swimming, karate, and jumping on her trampoline. The summer before her seventh grade year, Sydney decided she wanted to try a new sport…diving. She instantly fell in love with diving and it became her passion. She was introduced to the Eden Prairie High School coach and began diving for the high school in 7th grade. Her coach inspired Sydney to blossom into a beautiful, talented diver.  Sydney once said of her coach, “He has molded my life into the sport he and I both share a passion for – diving.” She lettered in diving four times. Sydney also ventured into additional sports during high school and became part of the Synchronized Swim Team and the Alpine Ski Team, earning five more letters. She wanted to pursue a career in business and joined DECA her sophomore year.  Sydney was a founding member of the West Lakes National Charity League, volunteering with Special Olympics, Second Harvest Heartland, and Ronald McDonald House. Throughout her 17½ years, Sydney was loving, kind and inclusive to others. She was happy, laughed a lot, was the queen of snap chats, took a lot of selfies, loved her red Jeep she named Libby, enjoyed jet skiing, cherished her family and friends, and lived without regret. Most of all, Sydney never never quit.On June 9, 2015, Sydney went in for a routine dental procedure to have her wisdom teeth removed.  Tragically, she suffered a cardiac arrest during the procedure and six days later, passed away on June 15.  While applying for her driver’s license at the age of 16, Sydney decided to check the “yes” box to become an organ donor.  Because she did this without hesitation, she was able to save the lives of many others. Her faith in God was strong. Sydney’s favorite bible verse was Joshua 1:9 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

The hearts that Sydney touched will be the proof that she was here.
She made a difference in this world.

Live, laugh, love.
